Book design// total mining
The cover boasts a gritty, raw design, with 'DETERMINED' in large, bold letters. 'DETER' and 'D' feature UV spot varnish over black, catching the light, while 'MINE' is die-cut to reveal the white inside.
In terms of creative direction, the book spans various colors, matching the timeline. Starting in ancient West Africa with golden and yellow tones (desert), it transitions to a monochromatic palette, from etchings to black and white photography, capturing the essence of historical mining.
As we progress on the timeline, color is introduced for the modern age of mining. The book's design evolves continuously, starting from the basics, refining the visual narrative, including type, images, space, form, and emotion. We're close to completion, aiming for around 200 pages of captivating content.
Final grading and color correction are pending, waiting for high-res imagery approval to fine-tune the book's colors and tonal structures.
1 BINDING
A. Casebound hardcover For the ultimate in document presentation, We recommend case binding. Although more expensive than other styles, nothing beats hard cover books for durability and good looks. They’re ideal for books with long shelf lives that won’t be quickly replaced by new editions.
Construction Method - Case binding combines several materials to produce a machine-bound volume. Traditionally, case bound books were sewn together. Today they follow the same construction method as perfect bound books. However, instead
of the soft cover, a hard cover (made of binder board wrapper with cover material) is affixed to the volume by glue between the endsheets. Side stitching also know as (over sewing) can significantly increase durability.
